Katie Purcell

Company Manager | Rehearsal Director | Teacher | Performer

Katie is a founding member of Sole Rebel Tap, she leads educational projects and has recently taken the role as rehearsal director for the company. She completed her training at London Studio Centre with a BA Hons in dance and theatre art, she toured the UK with The Jazz Company in 2006. She currently works at Swindon Dance as the education and development coordinator where she manages community and professional shows and projects in house and out.

Katie teaches tap classes to ages 11-16 years within the Swindon Dance Community Programme as well as teaching on part of the Dance OUT team throughout Wiltshire.  Last year Katie co-ordinated the Swindon Primary STEPS programme and is now co-ordinating STEPS 2 in partnership with the Royal Ballet School. She dances with choreographer Marie-Louise Flexen and Curious Company performing in various theatre and dance shows including Mr Wippy and the Conettes, The Curious Tea Part and Alice in Wonderland. Katie was previously the lead dance artist and manager of the Urban Youth Dance Company at Gloucestershire Dance. In 2009 Katie was part of the Bedlam tour with South West dancers working with choreographer Yael Flexer.
